Modding Teesa Easy Cool B24 with a thermostat

Searching for a practical, easy-to-carry, controlled-temperature enclosing for my dough, yogurt and Romanian borsch I come across Teesa Easy Cool B24. Has both 230V and 12V, so works everywhere, in house, hotel or in the car or boat. Its Peltier system may heat or cool and at 4A/72W it's easy on car's electrical system. Tested it a little bit and it's fine, got around 20*C under.

Only thing needed it's a way of controlling temperature, so I tried to fit a thermostat. A cheapo from AliExpress.

Dismantling it: unscrew 3 nuts in hinge, remove the black isolation and unclick the blue part from the white part. Plastic is quite flexible.

Modding part: I've inserted the thermostat between electrical source board and electronics panel board, thinking that it will start and stop the whole control board only when needed, and it will get its energy all the time when I keep it plugged in.

Result: It works but not well, that is, not continuously and only in Max power setting, not in Eco or Off. In Eco looks like electronics are supplying current in pulses, and the thermostat is starting and quickly switching off. In Off (between Eco and Max) it doesn't work at all. Not continuously means that it stop after 84 seconds of running on Hot, stays off for 47 seconds and then it starts again.

So maybe the source, which has some input from  panel board, also does some current limiting for Eco and Off modes. I still don't understand why it doesn't work continuously, maybe some kind of protection gets triggered.

I don't care that much as it does its job, that is maintaining a certain range of temperature inside. However not working continuously means that it cannot cool as much as it should. Right now it's not necessary, but in summer I'll know if it's enough or not. I need around 21*C for dough and borscht and 31*C for yogurt, not that much from 35*C or so.

Warning: For sure it has lost some functionality and for certain the guarantee is now void. Do it on your own risk only.
